✦ TRAITS ✦

Disclaimer: This page is a temporary stand-in for all current Orin traits while a more extensive guide is in a work in progress. Feel free to ask questions to see if an idea of yours can fly!

A more extensive list of traits with examples will be created in the future!

Certain traits are stackable! ex. Shaped + Transparent + Bubble Bauble, or Double Horns + Irregular Horns

✦✧✧ COMMON TRAITS ✦✧✧

Common Traits are GREEN on the Visual Guide.

  1. Basic Eyes
    • Can be any color, including colored sclera.
    • Basic eyes can have simple circular-shaped pupils or no pupils.
    • More eye information here.
  2. Opaque Bauble
    • Single-tone, plain, non-patterned bauble.
  3. Painted Bauble
    • Multi-colored or patterned bauble.
  4. Tufted
    • Short fur.

✦✦✧ UNCOMMON TRAITS ✦✦✧

Uncommon Traits are YELLOW on the Visual Guide.

  1. Bubble Bauble
    • Bauble is directly attached to the rear with no tail, or attached to a significantly shortened tail (i.e, 10% or less of body length)
  2. Shaped Bauble
    • Any geometric or simple shape.
  3. Angora
    • Any length and placement on the body.
  4. Lopped Ears
    • Any shape and length as long as it maintains the original 'fanned' look.
  5. Long Tail
    • A really long, winding tail. Can be looped or just a plain long tail.
  6. Glow
    • Any placement on the body.

✦✦✦ Rare TRAITS ✦✦✦

Rare Traits are RED on the Visual Guide.

  1. Irregular Ears
    • Can be ONE OF or ALL of the following:
      • Lack visible "notches" that would identify the standard "fanned" look.
      • Lacks or implies it lacks a visible ear inner.
        • *If the ear doesn't have a visible ear inner, but the shape implies it does, then it would not be Irregular ears.
      • Are an entirely different shape from the standard "fanned" look.
      • Are considerably oversized or undersized.
        • Oversized: Extends past the legs length/can drag on the floor.
        • Undersized: Smaller than the head.
  2. Irregular Eyes
  3. Irregular Horn
  4. Transparent Bauble
    • Bauble is completely transparent (can be semi-opaque) and completely spherical in shape; can hold anything inside it.
      • Living creatures would not be permitted, but the effect can be achieved with Projection (COSM)- however the animals would not be living creatures.
  5. Keratin Growth
    • Any sort of protruding fangs, claws, spikes, or shaped hooves.
    • Scales would fall under Aquatic (COSM).
  6. Budding
    • Growth of anything nature oriented; has to be used multiple times for more than one type of growth.
      • Sprouts, crystals, etc

❉ Cosmetic TRAITS ❉

Cosmetic Traits are BLUE on the Visual Guide.

  1. Object Bauble
    • Any object; transparency comes free.
  2. Texture
    • Fur texture (eg pinata-like, wool, etc).
    • Can also be used for a plush-like appearance (eg, stitches, cloth texture, stuffing).
    • Note, a couple texture types would fall under other traits:
      • Plant growth textures would fall under Budding (R).
      • Feathery texture would fall under Avian (COSM).
      • Scale texture would fall under Aquatic (COSM).
      • Element-related textures (water, ice, fire, shadows, etc) would fall under Elemental (MUT).
      • Metallic/electronic textures would fall under Mechanic (MUT).
  3. Alternate Storage
    • Any object in replacement for a horn. More horn information here.
      • There will be restrictions on how you can use the trait "Alternate Storage (COSM)". Regular Orins using Alt. Storage require ALL of their horns to remain on their head at all times. If you would like to achieve an object floating above your Orin's head, it needs to be in the form of "Projection (COSM)" in addition to some sort of visible horn(s) on your Orin's forehead. (eg, having a halo projection rung around your Orin's horn.)
  4. Bauble Body
    • Can be opaque or transparent; any object may be inside.
    • Can replace any part of the body, including the horns. Note, changing the shape of the horns may need other traits.
  5. Avian
    • Wings, can be any type and placed anywhere on the body.
      • Different types of wings (eg, bird and bat wings) will require multiple avian traits for the number of different types of wings.
      • Multiple pairs/sets of wings will require Eldritch (MUT).
    • Feathery texture
      • If the Orin has feathered wings, a feathered texture on the body is free.
      • If the Orin has non-feathered wings, another avian trait is needed for feather texture specifically.
        • (*adding wings with avian is not mandatory, you can just use an avian for feather texture only)
      • Feathers on the body that are longer past the depicted range here will also require angora.
  6. Aquatic
    • Fish-like gills, fins, scales, etc.
  7. Projection
    • Permanent illusions around the Orin.
      • These illusions are typically "large/complex" where they are a core element of the design, and any removal of the illusion will have a noticeable impact.
      • Tiny illusions do not count as Projection and are free only if removal of the illusion does not have any noticeable impact on any core elements on the design. Examples include small sparkles.
        • Small illusions CAN become Projection if it becomes a core element. Say for instance, if a design is galaxy themed, and Projection creates the effect of twinkling stars. The removal of those twinkles would end up impacting the design's galaxy theme.

✪ Mutation TRAITS ✪

Mutation Traits are GRAY on the Visual Guide.

  1. Alternate Tail (formerly known as Irregular Tail)
    • The entire tail becomes the bauble (aka, lacks a traditional visible bauble). Any tail shape and texture.
  2. Chimera
    • Enables a maximum of two limbs/traits from a non-aquatic animal (eg, front paws).
      • Two limbs/features are the hard limit. eg, you cannot have all 4 legs be paws, only 2 in total can be paws.
      • Chimera cannot give an Orin a nose.
    • Note, this trait's limits and applications are currently subjective. If you plan on using it, it's recommended to consult your idea with mods first to see if it can pass!
  3. Mechanical
    • Allows techy/electronical parts: eg, cyborg limbs or screens.
  4. Eldritch (now standing in for All Seeing/Multi-limbs/etc)
    • An umbrella trait for non-graphic "body horror."
      • Eyes on parts of the body.
      • Mouths on parts of the body.
      • Multiple limbs/tails/wings/heads/etc.
  5. Disjointed (formerly known as Floating Limbs)
    • Floating limbs, any body part may be detached.
      • No explicit gore/candy gore/horror allowed.
  6. Elemental (now separated from Texture)
    • Allows elemental features on an Orin (eg, flames, shadowy extensions, etc)
  7. Naga (formerly known as Ghost/Naga)
    • No back legs, the tail end is floaty, like a ghost, or physical, like a snake.
      • This trait is not "shapeshiftable." (Your Orin may not swap between regular hindlegs and a Naga hind.)
